We’re living in San Francisco for work and looking for someone to rent our home, which happens to be on the most idyllic block in the Dungeon-Monroe neighborhood of Madison.

We love our neighbors and our neighborhood, and are looking to find folks who want to take loving care of our place and be a part of this amazing community while we’re away.

This setup would be great for visiting professors or families who’ve recently relocated to Madison and looking for an easeful transition!

What we love about our home:

Location: You can’t beat this location. It is a very short walk to the Wingra boat launch and park and right next to the capital bike trail. It is three blocks to Trader Joe’s and other great Monroe spots like Pizza Brutta, Everly, Sequoia, and Bloom. Neighbors know each others’ names, chat on front lawns while the kids play together, and have impromptu gatherings for things like Halloween or new years. Even with all of the neighborly activity and despite being close to Monroe, the street is quiet with little thru-traffic.

It’s sunny: it gets beautiful sunlight through the large south-facing windows. The front yard has planters ready for gardening that get full-sun.

It’s spacious: Along with 3 bedrooms, with ample closet space, upstairs, a spacious living room, a mudroom, and a newly renovated kitchen that opens to the dining room. The home also has a half-finished basement, a sunroom (my favorite room in the house!) a patio, and a deck. There are multiple areas that can be utilized as an office, such as a spare room in the unfinished basement or the sun room, which we’ve taken full advantage of.

Great Storage: Most older Madison homes lack adequate closets, but 2232 really shines here. All bedrooms have large walk-in closets with the master having two walk-in closets (one even has a small window). Closets are well lit with their own interior lighting. In addition, the upstairs hallway has two generous linen closets just outside of the bathroom. The downstairs has built-in shelving, hallway closet and a very functional mud-room for storing all of your seasonal gear. The basement has tons of storage in the unfinished part as well as another large closet and book-case / entertainment center. The garage can fit two cars as well as some bikes or can be another great storage spot.

It’s great for cooking feasts: our home has a newly renovated kitchen with updated stainless steel appliances and a 5-burner gas convection oven. Large pantry, under-counter garbage and recycling, pot rack and butcher’s block center island make it a very functional space for lots of cooking. We also have a deep freezer in the basement that comes with the property.

Great Outdoor spaces: Our home has large front and back yards with a play house / shed in the back and multiple planting beds throughout. The back yard is fenced, and the screened in porch comes with swing and provides ample shade on hot days.

Updated Electrical and Plumbing: We have updated most switches to be dimmers and changed sockets to be child proof. We also hard-wired internet wifi access points to the upstairs and basement making internet very reliable and plug and play. We also installed a central 5-stage water purification system that runs straight up to the refrigerator for great water quality.

It’s beautiful: This home was originally built in 1921. If you geek out on period details this home’s got lots. It has a working wood-burning fire place with a new chimney, detailed tile work in the mudroom and upstairs bathroom, built-in cabinets in the upstairs hallway, and lovely wooden doors. the bedrooms upstairs are lovingly painted—updated pictures to come. The Master is a lovely olive green, the nursery a springtime green with a birch tree decal, and the kids room has a crisp turquoise accent wall with gold star decals.
